Terms of Service

1. What Rove is

Rove is an app that helps students at AUB and LAU find housing in Hamra and Ras Beirut, and helps landlords and rental agents show what they have.

Rove is run by Hilal Kanaan and Mokhtar Nasser, two students in Lebanon. We are not a registered company — we trade as individuals, and you can reach us at the address at the end of these terms.

2. We are not a party to your tenancy

We do not own, inspect, manage, or guarantee any property listed in the app. We do not hold deposits, take payments, or take a commission on any rental. We do not draft, witness or keep your contract.

Any agreement you reach is directly between you and the other person, and it is theirs and yours to honour. Before you pay anything, see the property, meet the person, and read what you are signing.

3. Who can use Rove

You must be at least 16 years old. You may browse without an account. You need an account to save homes or to post a listing, and you must give accurate information when you create one. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

4. Listings

If you post a listing you confirm that:

• the property is real, and you have the right to rent it out or to advertise it on behalf of someone who does;
• the price, availability, photos and details are true at the time you post them, and you will update them when they change;
• the photos are of that property, and are yours to use.

We may decline, edit, unpublish or remove any listing, and we may suspend or remove an account, if we believe it breaks these terms. We try to explain why when we do.

Approval is not endorsement. It means a human looked at the listing and it did not obviously break the rules — nothing more.

5. The Verified badge

A Verified badge means someone from Rove visited the property in person on the date shown, and it expires. It is not a guarantee about the landlord, the building, the contract, or your safety. Most live listings are approved but not verified, and that is normal.

6. Contacting a lister

Contact happens over WhatsApp. When you tap the WhatsApp button you leave Rove, and WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy apply to that conversation. We do not see, store or moderate what you say to each other.

If something feels wrong, use the Report button on the listing or on the lister's profile.

7. Reporting and moderation

You can report any listing or lister from its page. Reports go to the Rove team. We look at them and act — which may mean removing a listing, removing an account, or deciding there is nothing wrong. We do not tell the person who reported them.

You can also hide a lister's homes from your own feed at any time, from their profile. That is private to you: the lister is not told, and it counts against them nowhere.

Do not use reporting to harass a competitor. We can see patterns.

8. What you may not do

• Post a listing for a property that does not exist, or that you cannot rent out.
• Ask anyone for money before they have seen the property.
• Post the same property many times to get more attention.
• Post someone else's photos, or impersonate another person or agency.
• Scrape, copy or resell Rove's listings.
• Try to break or overload the service.
• Use Rove for anything unlawful.

9. Our content and yours

Rove's name, logo, design and code are ours. When you upload a listing or a photo, you keep it — you give us permission to show it in the app, on rovelb.com, and in links you share, for as long as the listing is up and for a reasonable period afterwards in our internal records.

10. Rove is free right now

Rove is free for students and for listers today. We may introduce paid features later. If we do, we will say so clearly and in advance, and you will never be charged for something without agreeing to it first.

11. No warranty, and the limit of what we owe you

Rove is provided as it is. We do not promise the app will always be available, that every listing is accurate, or that you will find a home.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from a tenancy you enter, money you pay to anyone, a listing that turns out to be wrong, or your dealings with any lister or student. Nothing here removes a right you have under Lebanese consumer law that cannot be removed by agreement.

12. Ending it

You may delete your account at any time, from Profile → Delete account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Lebanese law, and any dispute goes to the courts of Beirut.
